Oh, so right! January 9, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a great little high school graduation book, or better yet, gift to give to a Junior in high school, as they approach that oh-so-busy college application year. This book is something that they will refer to in thought over and over as situations described come up during college. Why not side step some disasters ahead of time, by using this fun yet informative tool?
A wide ranging collection of advice. September 4, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Contains a wide ranging collection of one and two sentence bits of advice. For a more comprehensive discussion of the same topics, you might want to also look at COLLEGE LIFE 102: The No-Bull Guide to a Great Freshman Year.
Not a bad choice July 14, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book does what its supposed to, which may sound a bit like a left handed compliment, but that's actually quite an accomplishment in the genre of college guidebooks. It actually gives good useable information about what to expect, and how to navigate, college. And it does it in a clear way. So many similar books are substance free. Or get mired in trying to use 'hip' language. This one is usable and cogent. I reccomend it highly.
Reading this book is like sitting around trading inside secrets with your friends! June 20, 2006 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
One of the many things I like about this book is that you can open it to virtually any page and pick up a great tip. It really reminded me of one of the many impromptu sessions I spent with my college buddies, trading experiences and talking late into the night -- comfortable, easygoing, funny, and with a lot of great insights. I can't imagine how any high school graduate heading off to college could fail to appreciate this book. I definitely recommend it!
Excellent Book April 19, 2004 46 out of 47 found this review helpful
This books provides honest solid advice. Unlike most so-called college guides, this one was not written by a book mill, but an author who understands the complexities of being a college student. Well done. Bravo! I can't recommend it enough. If I may, I would like to suggest a book to buy in addition to this one:
College 101: The Book Your College Does Not Want You To Read (ISBN: 0966412206)
College 101 may not be as polished as Been There Done That, but it does provide a complete picture of the college experience from a first person point of view, that is brutally honest. It shows the college experience warts and all!
Buy these two books together and you will know everything you need to know about college!
