The original artwork, drawings, landfall sketches and charts by the founding editors Harry Etheridge and Harry Kline have continued to be revised where necessary while maintaining the unique charting and illustrative style of the artists.
Customer Reviews:
Yachtman's Guide to the Bahamas March 8, 2007 I have boated (power & sail)thru the Bahamas over the past 50 years and this guide has been indespensable. I would go so far as to say that without it we may never have taken that initial voyage. On each subsequent trip it has been the "enabler" of evermore farranging Bahamas trips. HOWEVER,it should be a publishing "law" that NO marine guide should ever be allowed in "hard cover." Some years ago this publisher tried to publish in soft cover, ridgid back edition which fell apart. It should be a law that all marine cruising guides be published in "spiral-bound" versions. The boatman can open to where he wants to look, lay the guide down, and refer back to the guide now and then without it having close up, thus losing your place. I can not believe that this lesson was not learned. I will not buy the present Hard Cover Edition. I would cynically say that most foreign publishers would have learned.
A 'must have' when boating in the Bahamas! June 2, 2000 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
The Yachtsman's Guide to the Bahamas is an invaluable resource. A 'must have' when boating in the Bahamas. It is an accurate resource regarding water depths and warnings when navigating in shallow areas. Included were guidelines on how to approach ports of entry and tide charts.
The information regarding customs was extremely helpful. The historical and cultural information was very interesting. Identifying points of interest assists the traveler with planing activities and sight seeing.
Those that are not familiar with the less explored islands would benefit with more concrete descriptions of towns and markets.
When surveying the list of hotels/marinas on Bimini I chose the largest one with the most amenities. Upon arrival we could not have been more impressed. The accommodations at the Bimini Big Game Fishing Club Hotel and Marina are first class.
This guide is a wealth of information. I could not have imagined making the journey without it.
