One of the Best Textbooks I've Ever Used December 1, 2008 This book is very well written and illustrated, and is definitely one of the best textbooks I've ever had. Presents material in a clear way that's easy to follow, and provides lots of examples. The format is well laid-out, which makes it easy to use for test prep, or for quickly looking something up. There are lots of practice questions of varying difficulty, and many application problems to show the real-world usefulness of math. The solution manual that comes with the book is very thorough and provides excellent descriptions of the solutions. This is one of the few textbooks that I didn't sell after completing the course.
On time shipping, very poor packaging. October 7, 2008 The book arrived as promised using expedited shipping. However, the heavy text book was placed in a box twice the size of the book with a piece of bubble packing material. The weight of the book popped the packing material and it bounced off the sides of the box unprotected as it was shipped around the country. The book arrived with bent corners and a creased spine. Not much chance that I'll get a great resale price for it. Thanks a lot Amazon. Good work.
Great book... October 4, 2008 This is a great book for people who already have a firm grasp on the understanding of mathematics. The problem sets show you various scenarios that allow you to use your newly found skills flexibly.
Awful September 8, 2008 As another reviewer said, the learning curve for those coming out of pre-calculus is too steep. The sample problems presented in this book are not explained clearly, and the problem sets are useless when it comes to creating an exam.
EXCELLENT CONDITION August 3, 2008 The textbook shipped quickly, and arrived in excellent shape. It has tons of sample and exercise problems to sharpen your calc skills.
