Amazon.com Review Book Description Part voyeuristic entertainment, part group therapy, Passive Aggressive Notes offers a fascinating look at the all-too-familiar frustrations of embattled office drones, apartment dwellers, parents, and pet owners everywhere.
This curated collection combines dozens of outrageous, never-before-seen notes as well as favorites from Passiveaggressivenotes.com a 2008 Webby Award Winner and the official "Best Blog" of the South by Southwest Interactive festival.
A Note from the Author
It all began with a first date...and not a particularly good date, either. Apparently, things between this guy and his roommate had gotten so bad that they now communicated almost exclusively via Post-it note. Ah, yes, I said, I know those notes well--my current apartment (where I lived with three other roommates) had seen its share, most of them about the presence of unwashed dishes in the sink. They were usually signed with love; they were never addressed directly. I should start collecting them, I joked--put them on the Internet or something. Now that would be passive-aggressive.
Later that night--after it became clear that our relationship wasn't going to progress beyond standard small talk--I decided to do just that. And unlike my roommates' approach to dish-washing, the response to passiveaggressivenotes.com was enthusiastic, immediate, and overwhelming. Within weeks of the site's launch, thousands of notes poured in from shared bathrooms, kitchens, cubicles, and parking lots. (Wrote one reader: "Instead of a single note, can I submit an entire person? Like my mother?") This book represents the funniest and most outrageous of those submissions.
Despite the book's title, some of these notes are really more aggressive in tone, and some of them are more passive--polite, even. What they all share a common sense of frustration that's been channeled into written form rather than a direct confrontation. It's barbed criticism disguised as something else--helpful advice, friendly concern, light-hearted humor. But as Dr. Scott Wetzler, a clinical psychologist and author of Living with the Passive-Aggressive Man, observed: "A joke can be the most skillful passive-aggressive act there is."

Fabulous gift! December 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book was the perfect Xmas gift for my passive aggressive, sarcastic sister. She got a big kick out of it and so did the rest of my family. We sat around, listening to her read the notes aloud, laughing our butts off! Seriously, this is great!
Entertaining December 24, 2008 This book was a quick entertaining read with pictures. We all have received, seen, or written notes of the kind found in the book. Some of them were very funny, others a little scary.
Hilarious & Crazy December 23, 2008 Rating: 4.5
This book was originally inspired by passiveaggressivenotes.com, a popular website started by Kerry Miller, where people were asked to upload passive-aggressive notes that they have received or have found from any place imaginable. As the website states, the criteria for what constitutes a `passive-aggressive' note is taken from the New York times definition: "the classic description of the behavior captures a stubborn malcontent, someone who passively resists fulfilling routine tasks, complains of being misunderstood and underappreciated, unreasonably scorns authority and voices exaggerated complaints of personal misfortune."
In my opinion, it really means a note with sarcastic politeness and sometimes some harsh words thrown in. Many of these notes were written in response to noisy neighbors, stolen lunches, messy roommates and my favorite ones between lovers, family and friends.
I absolutely LOVE these kinds of books that reveal other people's notes and letters. I find it so interesting to read and this book is filled with some hilarious (and some just plain creepy) notes. The amount of hostility generated by such simple acts really makes me wonder about some people. Some of these notes must have been written by some seemingly crazy people because their comments to others are things I wouldn't catch myself even thinking about, let alone telling someone else. Therein lies the beauty of a book like this: lots of fun without actually ever having to encounter these people or get these types of notes addressed to me (not yet at least but should that day come, you know where you'll find them ;)
This book is a fast read and a fun one to pass around with your friends and family, who will surely get a laugh from these crazy notes.

Passive Aggressive Notes: A Great Way to Pass Time! December 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a hilarious collection of missives from people whose ire outweighed their judgment. It is a great book to carry for those moments you find yourself waiting, whether in a airport terminal, on a subway, or for a sermon to end. You will find yourself passing it to your neighbor with "hey, look at this!" but be careful or it may be a while before you get it back. All in all, good fun and a great read, over and over!

A friend gave this to me for my birthday and it's hilarious! The intro had me laughing out loud (particularly the part about babies in bars). This is a great gift for anyone who's ever had a roommate or coworker leave them a note (I had several flashbacks to freshman year of college while reading this).
