Product Description Kids love stuff that's gross. From the liquids, solids, and gases--especially the gases!--or their own bodies to the creepy, crawly, slimy, slithery, fetid, and feculent phenomena in the world at large, kids with a curious bent just can't get enough. Oh, Yuck! The Encyclopedia of Everything Nasty brings together, in one book, all the good things about some of the baddest things on Earth.
Exhaustively researched and impeccably scientific, yet written with a lively lack of earnestness, Oh, Yuck! is an ants to zits encyclopedic compendium covering people, animals, insects, plants, foods, and more. Here are vampire bats, which sip blood and pee at the same time so that they'll always be light enough to fly away; and slime eels, wreathed in mucus and eating fellow fish from the inside out. Oh, Yuck! explains why vomit smells; where dandruff comes from; what pus is all about; and why maggots adore rotting meat. Other features include gross recipes, putrid projects, 10 foods that make you airborne, and more.
With hundreds of cartoon illustrations and real-life photographs, Oh, Yuck! is the complete guide to the irresistible--at least to an 8-to-12 year old--underbelly of life.
Fun gift for grandson (11 yrs old) December 1, 2008 Not only did my eleven year old grandson like this book, but the adults in the family found it to be fun and interesting as well.
Oh, Yuck Book August 10, 2008 Though the cover is gross, we enjoyed the author's other book Oh, Yuck so we purchased this one. These books are filled with fun and interesting information. The author has a great sense of humor and presents topics in a way that is fun to read. My child, and even adults we showed the books to, were fascintated. Books like this help make science and history interesting.

That's Nasty! February 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this for your typical 11 year old boy. He loved it, I'm not sure how much mom did. That is one very clever way to get boys that age to read a book on their own. And they learn a thing or two along the way. Heck I would have like this when I was a kid. Remember boys are going to be gross either way, might as well make it educational too!
Great gift for a boy February 1, 2008 Buying gifts for boys ages 8 to 12 is difficult. This book is a great gift for a boy in that age group. I read it, too, and was interested in the information it contained - although it is kinda gross.
