Product Description
Heralded as the most authoritative and up-to-date atlas of the Bible now available, Biblica: The Bible Atlas with an enclosed CD-ROM goes beyond the more traditional books of its kind. It places the biblical narrative and its peoples in their historical, cultural, social, and geographic contexts, and it makes clear the complex history and cultures of the Bible lands as they relate to the region?s modern social and political landscape. But perhaps most important of all, Biblica: The Bible Atlas incorporates the most recent archaeological findings and research, combining scholarly data with engaging discussion of the Bible?s immortal stories. In summary, this unusual volume offers readers fresher insights and a deeper appreciation of the biblical narrative than any other reference source of its kind. Biblica: The Bible Atlas is also a visually stunning guide to the Bible and biblical lands, featuring more than 650 full-color paintings, drawings, etchings, and photographs plus 125 full-color maps of the region. Following the extensive and beautifully illustrated main text are 14 pages of biblical reference tables, an extensive bibliography, a glossary of biblical terms, a large selection of biblical quotations from the Old and New Testaments, a gazetteer of biblical place names, and an extensive index. Here is a beautiful and informative book that will make a treasured addition to the family bookshelf. It will also be a much-sought-after volume in reference libraries everywhere.

5 out of 5 stars Bible History   December 2, 2008
A wonderful tool to assist in Bible study. The names of ancient lands change throughout the centuries and this helps to identify Bible references. Also, it is beautiful illustrated.

5 out of 5 stars Entertaining and Educational   November 3, 2008
This book is visually striking, especially when placed on a regular bookshelf. The illustrations and maps make this especially useful for kids (maybe 8+), and the depth of reading is good for all ages.

For example, the aspects of the journeys of Paul are thoroughly explained such as the culture of the times and travels of Paul, maps, and biblical and historical information. Each of the elements are put together with beautiful artwork to make learning about the travels of Paul interesting and revealing.

This is very useful for your bible study library whether you have a family or not.

5 out of 5 stars Great Book!   October 15, 2008
This book is great! I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with it. The art work in it is wonderful.
The information is all you would ever want to know about the bible. I wish I had ordered it sooner.

2 out of 5 stars Somewhat lacking   October 12, 2008
Biblica: The Bible Atlas: A Social and Historical Journey Through the Lands of the Bible
Somewhat less than what I expected. It is good and entertaining but it lacks some depth. It's probably best as a "Coffee Table Book" rather than a serious study tool.

5 out of 5 stars bible Atlas   September 14, 2008
This is an absolutely majestic and well written bible atlas. The reader will be in store for many hours of rich reading. The images are rich in history and the very finest of classic art reproductions.
